MIG a.k.a Music In General takes their name from an early desire and commitment to innovate, and to try any idea no matter how different. It began as almost a mission statement, and has served to guide them to the success they have achieved. While largely hip hop influenced, MIG has managed to blend genres together in very unique ways, their self titled 2009 Debut EP being a testament to its name. After releasing their single and first music video The Experiment (a release that garnered widespread attention), MIG has gone on to refine their sound and project. The upcoming and highly anticipated album Good Times demonstrates how much they have matured as songwriters, and musicians, and features more of a pop sound.
The first single and music video for the album Life Of The Night was released early November 2011, and has received rave reviews. Despite Music In General’s many success’s it’s been a long road for this Portland, OR based group. Founding and current members Jeremy Robeson and Kris England have been through many ups and downs, several other members, changes in management, representation, and incredible life struggles. In 2010, a time in which MIG was a staple of the Portland metro area’s local music circuit, they were nominated for the Best New Artist award, but were unable to bring it home. Talks with Interscope Records, Atlantic Records, and Def Jam, all failed to pan out. This time around MIG has honed their skills, planned their moves, and is poised to take the music industry unaware.
